Today's entry is from Deena P.
Nothing spectacular about my story. I met my husband in church.
Of course, it was his first Sunday back in over 10 years, as he had wandered into the wilderness called "the world" and walked away from God. And he was sitting next to our youth minister, a man known for bringing "questionable characters" to church (was raised in a VERY conservative church!).
So I thought he was a dangerous sort of character with a wild past...and being a "good girl", found that highly appealing!
We spent weeks talking, getting to know one another and exploring who we were, before we went on our first date. I was a bit skittish, having been burned in relationships...and he was a bit shy, even though he looked anything BUT shy (read long hair, leather jacket, torn jeans...and motorcycle). Found out years later it was because he found me SO beautiful he felt UNWORTHY of me:-)
Our first date was a church function. On the way home, he asked me to marry him and I laughed, thinking it was a joke.
It wasn't. We were engaged a month later, and married 6 months later. That was 23 years ago, and I wouldn't change a thing.
